Bishop Gregory Woodard was born in Newport News, VA., on April 9, 1957, to the late Ethel Best and Graham Woodard Sr. He is the sixth child of seven children.
Bishop Woodard received his education from Newport News and Hampton Public Schools. He served three years in the U.S. Army, ending his career in the 82nd Airborne Unit, Ft. Bragg, N.C. He attended Thomas Nelson Community College with honors in Occupational Safety/Health.
On October 1, 1983 Bishop Woodard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior; and joined Second Baptist Church. On May 28, 1989, he was licensed to preach the gospel by his pastor, Dr. Floyd M. Blackwell. He was ordained by the Peninsula Baptist Pastor’s Council on January 27, 1991, at Miracle Temple (formerly 2nd Baptist Church), N.N., VA & by Calvary Alliance of Churches & Ministries, Norfolk, VA April 27, 2001. Bishop Woodard is a graduate of Boyce Bible College, a division of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY, 1998; and earned a Bachelor Degree in Theological Studies, 2000, Master of Divinity, 2017, and Doctor of Theology, 2019, from the Christian Bible College and Seminary, Independence Missouri. He served on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Correctional Ministry; President of the Gloucester Ministerial Association, member of the Minority Task Force of Gloucester, member of the Family Life Advisor Committee, the Gloucester Methamphetamine Task Force, the Board of Social Service and Gloucester Planning Commission. He also served on the Board of Supervisors of Gloucester, VA; Community Criminal Justice Board, Gloucester Community Policy Management Team, Hampton Roads Planning Commission, National Association of County Officials, Virginia Association of County of Officials and Guest Teacher of Gloucester Public Schools. In 2020, Bishop and Pastor Eunice authored, Purpose: Master Abundant Living.
He is the founder of Church of the Living Word, birthed in January of 1993. God is using this man-servant to build a victorious church that lives the Word through the power of Jesus Christ. In 2018, Minister Melvin Epps was selected as Bishop Woodard's successor as Lead Pastor of Church of the Living Word. Dr. Woodard is a member of Life-Touch Fellowship, Presiding Apostle John N. Gray, Sr.
Dr. Gregory Woodard is blessed with a helpmeet, Senior Pastor Eunice; they are parents to six children, Giuseppe, Tia (James), Franchot, Tarnita, Angel and Takiera (Yasmeen); and thirteen grandchildren. They reside in Gloucester, VA.
Senior Pastor Eunice C. Woodard was born in Newport News, VA., on October 24,1953, to the late Willie Eugene and Willie Mae Artis. She is the fifth child of six children.
She received her education from Newport News and Hampton Public Schools and graduated from Bethel High School. After graduation in 1971, she attended Virginia Union University, Richmond, majoring in Sociology.
In September 1983, Senior Pastor Eunice Woodard accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, under the pastorate of Rev. Floyd M. Blackwell, Second Baptist Church, Newport News, Virginia. On February 19, 1995, she was licensed to preach the Gospel by Bishop Gregory Woodard and ordained on March 1, 1998. She attended Boyce Bible College, a division of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY, 1998; with certificates and courses of New Testament Studies. In 2020, she earned a Bachelor Degree in Theological Studies at Christian Bible College and Seminary, Independence, Missouri. In 2020, she and Dr. Woodard co-authored, Purpose: Master Abundant Living.
Senior Pastor Eunice Woodard was employed at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company for three years. She also was employed at Kinder-Care Learning Center, Inc. for 14 years beginning as a preschool teacher and promoted to Director. She surrender to God and enter full time ministry where she is Executive Pastor, oversee Administration, Sunday School, Women Ministry, Usher, and Praise Team as well as other ministries.
Pastor Eunice has six children and thirteen grandchildren and walks along side her husband, Bishop Gregory Woodard, at Church of the Living Word, where we are “Building a Victorious Church That Lives the Word Through the Power of Jesus Christ.” They reside in Gloucester , VA.
